We couldn’t leave dogs out of it! If you didn’t get a chance to check out last week’s pupdate on Valentine’s Day ideas for you and your cat, you can click here to read it. This week we’ll be spreading the love for the doggos on Valentine’s Day and we’ve got some ideas for how you can make this day even more special for your true love. You’ll have to forgive us for one or two repeats…they’re good ideas!
Doggie Dinner Date
Chances are you’ll spend more time making their special snack or dinner than it’ll take for them to eat it, but that’s life. Consider making yourself a homemade dinner, and your dog a pup-friendly homemade meal. For some very basic ideas, take a look at the food that you’re currently feeding them and go pick up their low-fat protein from the grocery store. Combine it with some brown rice and a few shredded greens like broccoli, zucchini, carrots, or spinach. For an even easier option, you can take a portion of their dry food and soak it in broth or water with some additional ingredients, or freeze it to extend dinner past the two minute mark. Get creative!
Doggo Playdate
Got any furry friends in the neighborhood? If you have a younger more rambunctious dog, you know as well as anybody how much they love playing with their friends. Bonus for you is they’ll get tired out and be out like a light later that evening. There are a few local dog parks near our Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies locations in Ann Arbor (2425 W. Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI, 48103) and Chelsea (1192 S. Main St, Chelsea, MI, 48118) that are sure to be crowded in the afternoons and evenings. It’d be a great place to make some new furiends!
Shopping Spree
We’d be happy to accommodate you and your furiend at your local Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies and we have a ton of items that are sure to get your pup’s tail wagging. For some ideas, we’d put money on it that they’d like one of these options:
Deer antler
No-hide
Flavored dry bulk treats
Brand new chew toy
A Kong to fill up with a frozen dinner

Volunteer at a Local Dog Shelter
This would be a great way for you to spend Valentine’s Day helping out some dogs that really need it, and don’t have anybody to give them the attention they deserve (yet). There are a few local places that we would recommend, and you can find them here in one of our past pupdates. These are organizations that we continually work with and respect for everything they do to help animals in need. At a minimum, maybe you just want to donate in your dog’s name!
Dog Time
This really comes down to what your dog likes to do. Do they want to go on an adventure through the woods? Make it happen. Do they want to cuddle up on the couch with a movie? Looks like you’re staying in. The important thing is to spend some quality time doing what they love! Remember, they have no idea what Valentine’s Day is, so make it all about them, not you!
We hope you’ve enjoyed these Valentine’s Day ideas for you and your dog and even more we hope to see you in store soon!
