Could be a lucky day for your pup! Wait, who are we kidding, we know our southeast Michigan dog owners treat their puppers really well EVERY day. But our team at Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies has done some quick aggregating on some highly-rated, delectable green treats for your dogs to celebrate with as St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Although they can’t partake in celebratory drinking, we’ve got some fun alternatives for dogs with different preferences, and with a little bit of luck you might stumble on something your dog loves!
Homemade Mint Greenies
This is an ideal combination if you enjoy baking and your dog has toxic breath. Most dogs are sure to find this minty treat both delicious and effective as parsley and mint can work towards a future where people aren’t suffering from your dog’s breath. Like greenies, but homemade!
This recipe shouldn’t take you much longer than 30 minutes TOTAL and can result in a very happy human and very happy doggo for days!

Green Veggie Dog Treats
Our furry customers at Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies generally fall into two categories when it comes to veggies: love em and will eat just about anything, or sniff at it, leave it, and look at you like “what’s this crap?” Well, here’s a St. Patrick’s Day themed treat that can be a sneaky way to feed your pup some healthy vegetables. Our team here have some personal experience with these and have found that most dogs are delightfully deceived by these veggies wrapped in treats!
This recipe makes 40-50 cookies and shouldn’t take much more than an hour or so! Might be worth a shot especially for dogs that are showing some weight gain during the winter months.
Homemade Green Dog Treats
Nothing wrong with some simple, basic treats that your dog can drool over! And surely it doesn’t matter to your dog what color the food is… so this recipe is maybe more for your own enjoyment and aesthetics. This recipe calls for whole wheat and pureed spinach, so there’s not a ton to it and you should be able to whip these up in an hour or less.
St. Patrick’s Day Pupsicles
Lots of our furry Wags to Wiskers customers LOVE frozen treats. We do have freezers with an extensive collection of frozen and raw foods, but if they’re not green, where’s the fun in that? These pupsicles can be prepared in 5 MINUTES or less and are a healthy, yummy snack for your dog. The other cool thing about frozen treats is that you can basically add whatever you want to them (so long as it’s healthy for dogs) and chances are your pup is gonna love it. Just make sure you keep the base liquidy enough to freeze and everything should go smoothly! This particular recipe calls for spinach to create the appropriate St. Patrick’s Day vibe.

And, last but not least…
Bark Beer!
Don’t let your dog drink your alcoholic beer! That’s a big no no. What you should do instead is brew up this green beer. Super duper simple with just two ingredients and some brew time (24 hours), we are (again) using spinach to create the green coloring and a simple chicken stock base. You can get creative with this and pour it over dry food, freeze it into popsicles or cubes, or it can be served as a cold or hot drink depending on how the weather is this coming St. Patrick’s day in southeast Michigan.
Will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with your dog in some other way? Let us know below and don’t forget to responsibly enjoy yourself! We hope you find some time to include your pup in whatever celebrations are going down in your area.
