Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies COVID 19 Update

To our Wags Fam,

“Our Pets and Our People” has always been more than a motto for us at Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies. It is our philosophy, the way we conduct business, and the way our team interacts with our customers.

Like so many of you, we have been closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 in Michigan, in the United States, and across the globe. We place the highest emphasis on the health and safety of our team, our families, our customers, and everyone else that we work and do business with. We are taking measures out of an abundance of caution, and every action we take will be done with these priorities in mind. We have made several moves within our three Wags to Wiskers Pet Supplies locations to respond to this threat:

  • Cleaning services have been ramped up at our stores with sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer to regularly disinfect frequently touched items and surfaces.

  • Staff are encouraged to wash their hands every two hours at a minimum, and especially after close interaction with pets and people.

  • Social distancing protocols are being followed closely: this means that we are refraining from unnecessary physical contact amongst staff members, customers, and pets.

  • Staff that are showing symptoms are required to stay home.

  • Per CDC recommendations, if any of our employees travel to high-risk locations or become exposed to others who have traveled to such locations, we will ask them to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The CDC recommends the following:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

  • Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth, with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you’re sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched items and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Last, and certainly not least, you might be wondering what this actually means for our customers and for our pets. As of right now, there is no evidence that pets can carry the virus. However, since animals can spread other diseases to people, it’s always a good idea to wash your hands after being around animals. For those of you taking responsible steps to self-quarantine for a few weeks, or planning to lay low until there is a modicum of control over this outbreak, we offer the following services to help your pets:

  • Place an order by calling ahead and scheduling a pickup time, and we are happy to ensure a “hands-free” curbside delivery if you do not wish to come into the store. We can take credit card payments over the phone.

  • We encourage our customers to maintain their normal level of purchase size; our distributors will not be able to accommodate large increases in purchase behavior for everyone.

  • We are, as always, open to your requests, feedback, questions, and concerns in-store, over the phone, on social media, and via email. Contact us today.

Thank you for your support, patience, understanding, and assistance as we navigate through this crisis.

Sincerely,
The Wags Team
